Celebrate summer right at Creekside Pines Retirement Living

Your golden years are time to celebrate summer the right way! And here at Creekside Pines Retirement Living, in Dallas GA, we love an active summer filled with friends, family, and a little adventure of course! Keep reading to discover some of our favorite new ideas for how you can make the most of the season.

Host a summer barbeque

Picture this: you invite your neighbors, friends, and family over for a little summer cookout at the community. Your friends and family get to see your beautiful home at Creekside Pines, near Atlanta, and you get to mingle with neighbors. You bring out some fun games for everyone to play as everyone snacks on some delicious foods. Nothing says summer more than a barbeque.

If you’re already intrigued by this first idea, let’s plan it out! Here’s what you should keep in mind while planning your first summer BBQ of the season:

  • Plan out how many people you’re going to invite to ensure you have enough space, food, and beverages.
  • Make it a potluck! Let everyone know they’re responsible for bringing a dish of their own. This way, you get a break in the kitchen and you also get a taste of your peers’ culinary skills!
  • Have some yard games available to entertain your guests. Some staples are cornhole, giant jenga, and Uno.

Get outside!

Soak up the sun by getting out in nature! At Creekside Pines, we have beautiful grounds where you can bring any of your indoor activities outside for the summer in any of our common areas. Or you can take it a step further and venture out around Dallas to a local trail. A go-to in the Dallas, GA community is the Silver Comet Trail near Rambo Road. This trail is well maintained by the Rambo Nursery nearby and offers space for both biking and walking. Whenever you head outdoors, always remember to be prepared as you hit the trail. Whether you decide to bike or walk, bring sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses for additional UV protection, and lots of water!

Browse your local Farmer’s Market

The warmer months are always a lot more fun because the local Farmer’s Market comes back around! Farmer’s Markets are great ways to get out for the day, find new vendors and small businesses to support, and expand your culinary horizons with farm-to-table fruits and vegetables. You may even find a new favorite snack! The Dallas Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8am-noon on Confederate Ave. until September 24th. Swing by and grab some goodies for your barbeque while you’re at it!

Keep it Cool Indoors

No matter how much we love the summer heat, the Georgia weather can get a little too toasty some days. On days when it’s just too hot (or too rainy!) to go outside, celebrate summer indoors in the air conditioning. If you’re craving a bit of self-care or alone time, cozy up with your latest read or your journal by a window–you can enjoy the summer views without the sweat! And if you’re in the mood to socialize, there’s no better place. Our active senior retirement community provides plenty of activities for our senior residents, including socials, movie showings, and group exercise classes. Join us at one of our organized group activities to stay cool and meet your awesome neighbors.

We’re so excited to hear what our residents get up to this summer at Creekside Pines in Dallas, Georgia!
