Fall doesn’t mean the end of the outdoor season!

It is easy to hear that fall is here and assume that means that the days are short, the weather is cold, and there are no more outdoor adventures to be had. But we are here to tell you that is not true! One of the many benefits to being located in the beautiful state of Georgia is that our residents at Dunwoody Pines Retirement Community can enjoy mild temperatures even into the fall season. Here are some of our favorite activities to do near our Dunwoody independent living community!

Visit Brook Run Park

This 110-acre park is not only the biggest park in Dunwoody, but also one of the largest in the region. This outdoor park includes an amphitheater, baseball fields, great lawn, community gardens, a disk golf course, dog park, and various multi-purpose fields. Additionally there are walking trials, pavilions, and so much more! This park is the perfect place to spend an afternoon if you love being outdoors or physical activity. With places to relax, the walking trails, and the perfect opportunity for a picnic, we recommend spending a cool Georgia afternoon on the great lawn, or taking a stroll on one of the walking trails!

Take a Trip To The Dunwoody Nature Center

The Dunwoody Nature Center is a great stop if you have a passion for nature preservation and education! Their mission is to conserve, educate and motivate positive environmental action. The Nature Center consists of a park with walking trails, gardens, and ample outdoor space. If you are interested in learning about conservation while you are there, you can also sign up for the events and classes the center offers. This is a great stop for all ages and one you have to see if you love the outdoors!

Adventure Outdoors at Treetop Quest, Dunwoody

This thrilling stop is for those of you who are interested in testing your limits both physically and mentally. If you feel up to the challenge, you can pick from 60 different obstacle courses to choose from, including activities like ropes courses and ziplining. While this activity is not for the faint of heart, it is a great place to see all of the beauty of Dunwoody from a different vantage point. If you don’t think you are ready for the obstacle course, but know somebody who is, we encourage you to go and enjoy the outdoors with them! For more information on Treetop Quest, you can visit their website.

Dive Into The Georgia Aquarium

A little bit further out is the Georgia Aquarium, and although it isn’t technically outdoors, we had to include it for all of the nature lovers! This public aquarium is located in Atlanta (about 30 minutes from our community) and hosts thousands of species of aquatic wildlife. Their website promotes real experiences, hands-on exhibits, and wonders like nowhere else on earth. This destination is perfect for adults and kids alike, and the perfect activity to schedule if you have family visiting. For more information or to help plan your visit, check out their website.

Dunwoody Pines Independent Retirement Community also has incredible outdoor spaces on our campus, and we encourage our residents to take full advantage of all of the amenities offered to them!
