Cozy up this fall with fun activities at Heritage Point

Fall in Indiana is beautiful – with the leaves changing, the crisp and cool air making its way back, and all of the fun seasonal activities making a return! At Heritage Point Memory Care and Transitional Assisted Living, we’re keeping our residents engaged by bringing summer’s fun, carefree energy into the cooler months that are approaching. Keep reading for some fun activities to do this fall with your loved one!

Make seasonal sweets

The best part about this time of year is definitely the food – especially the sweets! Baking is such a fun activity that the whole family can get involved with. If you like pumpkin, then you’re in luck because you can make just about anything pumpkin flavored! Or maybe you like something with more of a warm brown sugar aroma. No matter what, we know you’ll find a recipe on this list that you and your loved one will enjoy:

Movie night

There’s nothing more soothing than curling up on the couch with your loved ones and putting on a good movie! In classic fall fashion, we recommend picking out a fall movie that the whole family will enjoy like the Harry Potter series. Make the night even more of an occasion by popping some popcorn and bringing out those sweets we mentioned above. That way, everyone has something to munch on while enjoying the movie! Need something to sip on too? Pick up some warm apple cider or make some hot cocoa. But don’t forget the fuzzy blankets because there is no fall movie night without some cozy covers!

Enjoy the fall air

Before it really starts to get bitter cold, take advantage of the weather and enjoy the outdoors for a few more weeks! Is your loved one an avid reader or someone who loves a good crossword? Bring it outside for a change of scenery. Because after all, it won’t be long until the first snowfall! Get comfortable around our beautiful community or venture out to a nearby park. Our favorite parks in Mishawaka are Central Park (not to be mistaken for the one in the Big Apple) or Merrifield Park! Both have great spaces to sit and enjoy the scenery.

We have activities all year round to keep our residents entertained, engaged, and stimulated along with their peers. Our extensive weekly calendar of physical and mental activities include a great variety, from yoga to animal bingo to creative arts. So no matter the season, we’re happy and excited to get creative and social with our residents.
